This started off as a sketch I did well over a year ago. I really liked the feel of it and how his head came out, but I never got around to fleshing it out. Until now.
This is my version of Father Christmas, with one of his reindeer. You can speculate about which one it is, I really don't know. I've always liked the classic rendition of him, with the ivy crown and long robe.
Like I said, this is my version. His name is Nicolas, last born of three brothers. His eldest brother is Oberon, and the middle brother is Odin (as in Norse Mythology Odin).
In my version, Odin gave Nicolas eight flying reindeer born of falling stars. Nicolas was never able to have children of his own, so he took it upon himself to spread cheer to children less fortunate.
